Reflections on Farm Aid…25 years later

The other night I caught the Farm Aid broadcast on satellite.  The benefit, started a quarter of a century ago by Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and others, has stood the test of time.  Its a simple notion, are we willing to help small farmers, who toil in the fields to bring us food, to stay alive against the factory farms, whose sole purpose is to make a profit.  The answer should be obvious.  Some notable quotes from the broadcast:

“What Americans fear is inconvenience.” – Unknown

“Willie Nelson should be given the Nobel Peace Prize” –  John Mellencamp

“Read the labels, read the labels”  – Neil Young on learning where your food comes from.

“People tell me that forty years ago I wrote a folk song.  I finally think I agree”  – Neil Young then he launched into the song posted here.
