Farewell Donald

Donald CecilDonald Cecil died a week ago Friday.  He was only fifty-two years old. My heart goes out to Victoria, Thomas and James.

He worked for the paper as our art director for about two years at the end of the last millenium.   In the short time I knew him, Donald made an impression upon me.  He was intelligent.   He was a gifted artist.  He had a great sense of humor and loved music.  And he deeply he loved his family.

Saturday, Tima and I went to his memorial service where all these things were on display.  Afterward, those in attendance went to the Cecil home where a taco truck was parked outside, serving tacos and such to those who were hungry and everyone ate   Donald would have wanted it that way.

I encourage you to visit his Flicker site to experience some of his art – it will give you a small glimpse into the creative & humorous mind of Donald Cecil.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/bullcecil/sets/72157594367051660/show/with/2830007325/
